1st of all, the camera shipped was not what I ordered but didn't want to got to the hassle of returning it and ended up giving it to my kid. I can't remember the model number but it looked more like a video camera but does provide pretty good stills and video.

2nd - the scan disc card was defective and had to return. Once the new one came, all was well.DXG 569VS 5.0MP Slim HD Camcorder with 3.0-Inch LCD

Panasonic Pro AG-HSC1U AVCHD 3CCD Flash Memory Camcorder with 12x Optical Zoom

I bought this camera when I was oversea vacation. It's great camera for the amount of money. So, I edited my footage time line video clips by using Sony Vegas Pro to make a Blu-ray movie. It's unreal, it's sharp, but the only thing that got me is: I had to import the video clip through its own software that came with the camera and then save them as MPEG2 file before I can transfer to the Vegas time line. If anyone has better idea, please let me know. Thank you

Panasonic HDC-HS100 Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 60GB Hard Drive & 12x Optical Zoom

For the price I suppose it's a quality HD video camera you can get. Image quality is solid and the built in 60 gig storage is awesome.

If you have a mac, it will easily sync with any version of iMovie after iMovie '08. I had iMovie HD on my 3 year old mac and was disappointed when I found out I had to purchase a new version of iLife to unload the video files.

Another horrible design is in how you have to hook it up to the computer or TV. Apparently the designers are chronic crack heads because all ports are behind the battery. You have to remove the battery, use the charging cord to plug the camera into an outlet, then plug in the video cables or USB cable where the battery was. It's quite possibly the worst design ever because it makes it impossible to sync the camera with battery power.

If not for this horrible design flaw I'd love this camera. Every other aspect has made me happy. Well, the built in microphone isn't great, but it is okay. Due to the battery issue I do wish I had done a little more research to see if there's an alternative HD video camera.Panasonic HDC-HS100 Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 60GB Hard Drive & 12x Optical Zoom

Sony HDR-SR7 AVCHD 6.1MP 60GB High Definition Hard Disk Drive Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom

After 2 years, I bought a new battery since it wasn't keeping much of charge. Six months after buying the new battery, it too doesn't keep a charge very well. Needless to say it is frustrating when the battery was fully charged on Good Friday but only provided 3 minutes of video recording on the big Easter egg hunt day. This seems very odd to me, unless I purchased a defective battery, that a camera, over time, would consume the battery this much with the camera off for 1.5 days.Sony HDR-SR7 AVCHD 6.1MP 60GB High Definition Hard Disk Drive Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom

Sony HDR-HC1 2.8MP High Definition MiniDV Camcorder w/10x Optical Zoom

I bought the HC1 new back in 2005, I upgraded from the JVC HD1 which was a 720P 30fps HD camcorder. The HC1 was in a whole different league from the HD1 (sold it on ebay immediately after getting the HC1). The image quality of the HC1 is spectacular. I've made about 5 tapes since I bought the HC1 and it's only shortcoming to me is the low light performance. Taping inside during the day looks spectacular, and under good indoor lighting the results are spectacular as well, but once the lighting is reduced to 15-20 lux lighting the image starts to get noisy. I've heard that the Canon HV20 and HV30 are very good at 24P or 30P in low light, I'm contemplating updrading to one of those cams, but I'd hate to really dislike some other aspect of the Canon.

Pros

-HD performance is incredible when the lighting is good

-photo image capture is adequate for 4X6 photos

-sound quality is good

-zebra pattern and histogram very useful

-great organomics for my hands

-build quality is superb (it's been skiing on the slops twice and mountain biking as well)

Cons

-Low Light performance

-wish the lens was wider (a wideangle adaptor helps)

Panasonic HDC-DX1 AVCHD 3CCD High Definition DVD Camcorder with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

Forget about posting your videos to the Internet. The format it records in won't play in browsers. And there's no software anywhere that will convert it. Be prepared to wait for the door to open any time you need to take out a disk. Wait about 30 seconds. The door pops open. Insert a disk. Wait another 30 seconds. OK, so take your videos and the disk is full. Now wait again, because the disk must be finalized to play it in the camera. Want to play it outside the camera? OK. Remove the battery. Plug the adapter cord into the camera. Plug the other end into the charger. Plug in the charger. Hunt through the menus until you find the option to finalize the disk for playing elsewhere. Now wait 10 minutes for it to process. Want to transfer videos to your computer? Make sure you use the USB cord supplied. Make sure no other USB devices are plugged into your computer. Make sure you're using Windows XP. Computer won't recognize the camera? Sorry. That can happen--the camera isn't guaranteed to work with any computer.Panasonic HDC-DX1 AVCHD 3CCD High Definition DVD Camcorder with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

Hitachi DZ-BD7HA BluRay 5.3MP DVD Hybrid High Definition Camcorder with 30GB Hard Drive & 10x Optical Zoom

Is important to define the category of this camera, to have a real evaluation.

High definition videocameras are still in the first generation. All products , DVD, DVD recorders, even VHS, etc.. in the firts wave that hit the consummer had many flaws.

After the second generation we have a better quality in ALL products.

Now All HD portable devices are not full quality products.

I have purchsed this item knowing that HD cameras are very bad for indoors, otherwise is the quality in exteriors.

So if you mostly use video for inside the house, forget High Definition, a standard camera will be better.

This Hitachi was overpriced , about $1,600.00

Now in some places is in a third of the original price. So is reaching equilibrium in cost- benefit.

CONS.

1. First it was the price, wich now is going down.

2. The category of HD is still in baby steps. We have to wait to get a reasonable price for camera that has good quality in outdoors and indorrs, and also a easy processing in the transfer.

3. If you dont have Blue ray player is not for you. The transfer for different media requires patience

PROS

1. The design calls for attention.

2. The handling is easy than other videocameras , that have so many buttons and options on the video and stills , that instead of helping only makes taking pictures more complicated.

3. With the manual controls , we can skip the major problem of the HD videocamera category , bad indoor quality.

4. The best feature is the processing of store the video/stills . For me to transfer form Blue Ray recording to my Blue ray player is just play the disc. In other models , the software to transfer to the computer is much more complicated.

5.The sound and flash are fair.

Conclusion.

If you Have Blue Ray Player

If you will shoot outdoors mostly

This camera is for you.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1 5.1MP MPEG-4 High Definition Camcorder w/10x Optical Zoom

Well we purchased this camcorder over a year ago. I rarely use this only for Christmas, birthdays and of course the kids end of school programs. If I use it 5 times this year that was a lot. It worked fine although it was very confusing to operate. In addition I found this camera to be very awkward to hold. The still photos were okay I never really used this function.

I just went to use the camcorder and I found I had a black screen and all the footage that I had stored on it has vanished!! This is horrible all my memories are lost forever! I called Sanyo customer service well they suck because I was told I would have to pay for the repair its no longer under warranty. Sanyo warranty is only 90 days!!! I WILL NEVER BUY A SANYO PRODUCT EVER AGAIN!!! This company does not stand behind its product or its customers!! I should have bought a SONY!! I learned the hard way!Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1 5.1MP MPEG-4 High Definition Camcorder w/10x Optical Zoom

JVC Everio GZ-HD6 3CCD 120GB Hard Disk Drive High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

I own this camera for 12 months now. I agree to the positive reviews about the video quality and light handling. However when it comes to PC connectivity this camera simply - don't! The only way to get your videos on your PC is through the supported software. You can't stream live video and you can't use common software such as Movie Maker or Windows Media Encoder to capture live video or to immediately edit the recorded video (on the HD). The computer seems to recognize the camera as an AVC compliant device - but nothing more than that. And when it comes to using the supported software - is sucks! The software is very cumbersome to use, it uses a quite rare video format (some MAC type of TOD files) and the video editor software has very limited options for even the basic edits. If you need to edit your videos on your PC - be prepare to for a tedious job.JVC Everio GZ-HD6 3CCD 120GB Hard Disk Drive High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

Sony HDR-SR5 AVCHD 4MP 40GB High Definition Hard Disk Drive Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom

This has to be the most useless camera I have ever spent a ridiculous amount of money for. The primary reason for buying a digital camcorder is so that I can edit them in any given piece of software, convert them to a common format and upload them to the internet or view them in any player. Not possible. Trying to get Sony's proprietary AVCHD m2ts format converted to anything useful is an extraordinary amount of time wasted.

Problem 1: You can't just plug in an ordinary USB cable to upload videos to the computer, no, you have to have the platform it sits on and a unique kind of USB connector plugged into the platform.

Problem 2: Proprietary video format, you can either A: burn a DVD or B: convert it to something that no codec can open. See 3.

Problem 3: You can't upload it to Facebook without buying a $50 piece of converter software that will put it into a common format. Oh, when you convert it, forget the HD, it goes bye bye.

Problem 4: The software that comes with it is only for PC's, Sony hates Apple. So I have to launch a VMware Windows XP session if I even want to use their useless as tits on a bull software that thinks it is user friendly but really only complicates things.

Problem 5: The "video stabilizer"? A joke, get a good tripod if you expect to have any video that doesn't vibrate more than a jackhammer during an earthquake.

Why can't it just record in a common format or at least have a built in converter that allows you to choose the format you want on the camera hardware itself.

From what I have learned, if you really want a video editor that is compatible with this camera, look forward to spending an extra $200.

I don't know what camcorder you should buy, or what I will try to get next, but don't buy Sony, they wouldn't know a computer if it bit them on the @ss.

Item was as described, although I was told that the cord included would work in spite of the correct cord was not. The ad did say the correct cord was not included and it was a quick fix. I would do business with this seller again, they were honest and tried to help me out. I am very very pleased with the item and so is the church that it was given to.
