I bought this camera about 5 months ago because I heard the picture quality was great, which it is, but I also was intending on taking advantage of the 1/8th inch mic input in order to use a shotgun mic. Every time I use this feature an extremely loud beeping noise goes off when the access light blinks. Really really apparent and impossible to get any good audio. Other people seem to have the same problem: [...] . The audio attenuator helps a little but doesn't eliminate the problem. I called Canon and they basically said "that's how the camera is supposed to work." What?! Thanks Canon. Go with the Sony consumer HDs.
